Facebook addicts at work

Posted on under Today's research

Many organizations are using Facebook-type platforms to communicate with staff or to help staff communicate with each other. There is an obvious benefit to this in the sense that people are used to using Facebook. There is a possible downside risk, however, and that is that the organizations may be, unwittingly, contributing to what is now being called ‘Facebook addiction.’ According to Norwegian research published today this is as serious as any other form of addiction (cf earlier studies linking Facebook use to depression: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42298789/ns/health-mental_health/t/docs-warn-about-teens-facebook-depression/).
